At AED  urgent care clinic, we prioritize the health and well-being of our patients. As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare, we offer comprehensive tuberculosis (TB) testing services.

Tuberculosis is a potentially serious bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body. Early detection and prompt treatment are crucial in preventing the spread of TB and minimizing its impact on individuals and the community. Our clinic provides a range of TB tests to accurately diagnose and manage this infectious disease.

TB Screening: Our urgent care clinic offers TB screening services for individuals who may be at risk of contracting tuberculosis. TB screening involves assessing the risk factors, symptoms, and medical history of patients to identify those who require further testing. Our experienced healthcare professionals conduct thorough evaluations to determine if additional testing is necessary.

Tuberculin Skin Test (TST): One of the primary diagnostic tests for tuberculosis is the Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), also known as the Mantoux test. TST involves injecting a small amount of purified protein derivative (PPD) into the forearm. After 48 to 72 hours, patients return to our clinic for the assessment of the injection site. Our medical staff carefully examine the reaction site and measure the size of any raised bumps or redness to determine if the patient has been exposed to tuberculosis.

Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA): Another advanced method for TB testing is the Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA). This blood test detects the presence of specific immune responses triggered by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for TB. IGRA is particularly useful for patients who have received the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, as it produces more accurate results compared to the TST. Our clinic ensures accurate sample collection and precise laboratory analysis for reliable IGRA testing.

Chest X-rays: In some cases, a chest X-ray may be recommended to evaluate the condition of the lungs and identify any abnormalities associated with tuberculosis. Our urgent care clinic is equipped with advanced radiology facilities, enabling our skilled radiologists to capture detailed images of the chest. These images are then carefully analyzed to detect any signs of active TB infection or latent tuberculosis.

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan: Upon completion of the necessary tests, our medical professionals provide a comprehensive diagnosis based on the results. If tuberculosis is detected, we offer personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Our knowledgeable healthcare team ensures that patients receive appropriate care, including the prescription of appropriate medications and the provision of guidance on disease management, adherence to treatment, and infection control measures.

How can I obtain the latest COVID-19 vaccine?

Receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is the most effective and safest measure to prevent severe illness. Similar to other vaccines, the COVID-19 vaccine instructs your body on building its own defense against the virus responsible for this disease. Typically, the COVID-19 vaccine consists of two doses, with the second dose administered 14 to 28 days after the initial one. It takes approximately three weeks after the final dose to develop immunity. Access to COVID-19 vaccination is subject to availability and regulations set by your state. Please reach out to us for further information on obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine.
